📩 Dear Lisa,
At BrightFuture Education, we've established processes to improve administrative efficiency. However, enforcing adherence has been challenging, and we lack a system to address non-compliance or celebrate compliance. How can we implement a balanced approach to manage consequences and recognize achievements related to process adherence?
Regards,
***

✒️ Dear Accountability Advocate,
Thanks for reaching out! You’re not alone—many leaders feel stuck when they’ve created processes, trained their teams, yet still face non-compliance. The missing piece? Step 4 of the Followed By All (FBA™) Checklist: Manage.
The law of entropy definitely applies when it comes to process. No surprise, but sometimes it feels easier to do things “like we’ve always done it.” But, if your company wants to scale, that approach doesn’t work. As a leadership team, you must align on consequences for non-compliance as well as how you’re going to recognize those that follow your processes. Consequences don’t mean immediately firing someone—it means holding people accountable in a structured, fair way.
Balanced Approach to Process Adherence
✔ Reminders & Reinforcement – Sometimes, non-compliance is simply a lack of awareness. A quick reminder may be enough.
✔ Additional Training – If someone struggles with a process, offer refresher training or pair them with a mentor.
✔ Coaching & 1:1 Conversations – If reminders don’t work, have a direct but supportive conversation to address why they aren’t following the process.
✔ Public Recognition & Celebration – Recognize and reward those who consistently follow processes. Shoutouts in meetings, incentives, or growth opportunities work well.
✔ Adjusting the Process (If Needed) – If non-compliance is widespread, review if the process is unclear or impractical. Sometimes, employees resist because the process isn’t effective.
✔ Progressive Consequences – If repeated violations occur, align on clear next steps: for example, verbal warning → written notice → formal performance improvement plan.
Accountability fuels consistency. Consistency fuels results. By reinforcing processes through training, recognition, and structured consequences, your experience will shift from frustration to execution.
To your success,
Lisa
