Why Your Team Keeps Reinventing the Wheel (and How to Stop it)

Hey there,

If your team keeps doing the same work ten different ways, the problem is not your team… it’s you.

I know that probably hurts to hear, but it’s the truth.

When people do not know the right and best way to do something, they make it up. Every time. Then you spend your days chasing mistakes, re-explaining basics, and cleaning up messes that should not exist.

You deserve better than that, and your people do too.

Here is the real issue: you have not clearly taught your team how you want the work done. You have habits and instincts built from years in the trenches.

They do not.

You expect them to magically read your mind, and when they can’t, you get inconsistency, rework, and frustration.

The solution is not more meetings, more pep talks, or more blaming your people. The solution is documenting and simplifying your Core Processes. Teach your team the handful of steps that actually matter. Make it easy to find. Make it easy to follow. Then expect consistency.

When everyone knows the path, everyone moves faster. You get fewer surprises, fewer questions, and more results. You get your time back. And most importantly, you stop living in firefighting mode.

If you want your team to stop reinventing the wheel, give them the wheel. Show them how it rolls. Then hold them to it.

It is simpler than you think. And honestly? It’s kinda your job.

Let’s build something that lasts,

Lisa

What do they really need from me?” I’ll let you in on a secret: your employees want consistency more than anything. More than sweet perks, constant praise, or another Starbucks gift card. Consistency; it’s as simple as that. Consistency is what makes a team steady. It’s what turns confusion into c...
What 2025 Taught Me About Consistency and Growth
Hey, As we creep up on the end of 2025, I’ve been thinking a lot about the leadership teams I worked with this year— the wins, the sticking points, and the patterns that kept showing up. After a really inspiring Clarity Break, I’ve boiled the year down to four key lessons learned: 1. Everything starts at the top. When the leadership team is aligned and modeling the behaviors they want reinforce...
If Your Team Keeps Asking, “How Do I Do This?” Read This
Hey, Listen, I know the word process doesn’t exactly spark joy for you. Most entrepreneurs resist it at first. It can feel rigid or unnecessary. But the truth is that these myths keep you stuck in the day-to-day and rob you of the clarity you need to lead. Myth 1: “Process isn’t who I am.” You may feel like you are not a process person. But you already repeat what works and stop doing what does...
